When the wounded DLIs had been carried by stretcher-bearers to the ADS and dressed (see Roll 3, 28 Feb 43), they were then moved to the nearest road on wheeled stretches. On the road, ambulances were waiting to take the casualties to the CCS at Sedjenane.

The stretcher is wheeled across the fields. Camera pans with the passing stretcher

They reach the road west of Sedjenane
|
|
The stretcher stops. An ambulance enters the picture and one of the bearers runs to it, opening the doors.
|
|
The bearers lift the wounded off the trolley and carry him to the ambulance.
|
|
Close Up. They push him in.
|
|
The ambulance doors close and it moves off.
|
|
The stretcher goes back to the ADS for another casualty.

|
When the situation in Sedjenane became critical it was decided before withdrawing to remove all unessential vehicles from the district.
|
|
A line of retiring vehicles pull into the side of the road to let Bren careers, rushing up to Sedjenane, pass.
|
|
A group of REs sit by the roadside waiting for instructions to mind the road while a convoy of vehicles pushes on.
|
|
Further down the road a Bofors gun is laid for either anti-aircraft or anti-tank duties as the lorries pass.

A civilian car, a lorry and the number of Bren-Carriers pass a burning building.

|
After a small German patrol had been ambushed and dispersed by a company of Coldstream Guards, a section went out to search the locality for dead and wounded Germans and to take prisoners.
|
|
This section moves down the hillside from where the German patrol was ambushed. They search among the bushes--various shots--going cautiously rifles and tommy guns at the ready. A wounded German corporal is found lying in a shallow ditch. He has been severely wounded in the leg, arm and posterior by a three-inch mortar bomb. The remainder of the roll is devoted to shots of Guards personnel doing their best to make the wounded man comfortable until stretcher-bearers arrive. A few hours later the wounded man died. He was buried by the roadside just inside our own lines.
