Cpl J A Philipson is at right. The man immediately to the left of him with his arms folded has been identified, by his grandaughter, M Cook, as Pte Cecil Cook. Cecil Cook was originally enlisted in the Royal Scots Fusiliers in October 1939, Army Number 3131554. He was transferred to the Durham Light Infantry in April 1940 and was with the 16th Battalion DLI from its formation in Edinburgh in July 1940. Cecil Cook also features on this 1945 photograph. |
