When the 16th DLI was disbanded in February 1946, the splendid certificate above was made up, signed and issued by Lt Col Denis Worrall to each of his officers and men. The reverse of the certificate, seen in detail at right, listed the soldier’s service with the Battalion. Alex ‘Jock’ Gray was one of the very few men who were with the Battalion from the very beginning in Scotland to the very end in Austria over five years later. Courtesy Alex Gray. |
