Pte T Tunney North Africa Letter Pt 3

Notes

‘Margaret’ was my father’s elder sister, who was a nurse in the Queen Alexandra’s Imperial Military Nursing Service. ‘Hubert’ was my father’s elder brother, a plumber by trade, who later served as a Petty Officer in the RN. ‘Leo’, mentioned in my father’s lettter of 20/1/43, was his younger brother who served as a ground crewman in the RAF. The RC Padre mentioned, of 139 Brigade, was Father Fury, a very brave and hugely respected man. The letter is signed by Lt H Pritchard of C Company, who later became the Battalion’s Adjutant and who also features on the 1944 Officers’ group photo.
