16 DLI SIGNALLERS, DAMASCUS, JUNE 1944 |
Yes, you have no bananas--but we have! Men of the Signal Platoon and a plentiful supply of fruit, in Damascus, June 1944. Ernie Scriven and Jack Foy are standing, left and right and (possibly) Hall and L/Cpl J Howe are kneeling. Called up directly to the 16th DLI in July 1940 (Army Number 4466045), Londoner Ernie Scriven was another long-serving member of the Battalion. Photograph courtesy Ernie Scriven. Identifications by Ernie Scriven and Alex ‘Jock’ Grey. |
