Joseph Albert Philipson is sitting directly behind the cook.. In this and all the following photographs, one key detail which roughly date each image is that the ‘fore and aft’ field service cap the men are wearing here was replaced by the beret in late1944. This photograph must have been taken somewhere in England prior to the Battalion’s embarkation in December 1942.
